BACKGROUND
´Nzuzo Farming Pride Primary Co-operative Limited is situated at 16555 Maydene Farm Location in Mthatha, Eastern Cape. Maydene Farm is approximately 5km from Mthatha CBD.
´Maydene Farm is under King Sabata Dalindyebo local municipality in O.R Tambo district. The municipality is characterized by high rate of unemployment and crime, high levels of malnutrition and poverty. It is mostly dependent on government grants for livelihood and survival other activities like schooling. Members of the families in the area find that, it is crucial and important therefore to start overcoming fears of poverty, violence and crime to build social environment and trust within family and community groups at large and develop being part of a project called Nzuzo Farming Pride Primary Co-operative limited.
´The company has already initiated plans of growing their business in other municipalities and towns in the Eastern Cape, namely, Tsolo, Port St Johns Municipality,Hluleka,Libode, Coffee bay, East London, Peddie, Mthatha and has made Mthatha their central where they process the honey and package, label and store it. In the sites mentioned above, the company is intending to mark all their bee hives by providing a unique number for each so as to be able to track their assets. Their honey is labeled as Maydene Honey Bee.
