Who We are?
NZUZO FARMING PRIDE
Abstract
There is a need to establish a simple yet important approach to beekeeping, which will be based on a triple-pronged approach comprising a social, environmental and economic component. Our Beekeepers need to understand the basic role that bees play, and how to handle or work with them.
Our Government and private stakeholders need to invest directly in communities and or regions showing strong potential for beekeeping. How can this be achieved? Key deliverables or tasks needed to attain a successful journey in beekeeping should be presented from the early years of being a beekeeper. This includes colony management, understanding basic bee biology and the impact of seasons on bees. Such an approach will provide an idea of the beekeeping journey and makes it a good vehicle for transformation in our society.
Our hope is that these backyard hives will facilitate a dialogue among neighbours, friends, family and the community at large about the huge importance of bees.
